Aerosmith live in Athens June 2010

They say that in Greece the only music fans that go to concerts are the heavy metal fans. So, if you offer them quality hard rock in the form of Aerosmith, they would jump at the chance, right? Wrong! The stadium was half empty. Many theories were formulated to explain that (maybe the tickets were too expensive, maybe the organizers made some mistake and so on...). The truth is that the tickets were no more expensive compared to the other concerts at the time. True, I bought an expensive one, but that's because I chose to, since I wanted to be as close to the stage as possible. And the brutal truth is that in order for the stadium to be full the band has to be called Scorpions. It's that simple...

  Anyway, Tyler and his gang didn't mind the low ticket sales (in contrast to other so-called "stars" who will refuse to play in a half empty stadium in order to maintain their "image") and they got on stage and gave it their all making this one of the best concerts we have ever experienced in Greece. They played both the "old" and the "new" songs. (By "new" I mean the 90's tracks featuring ballads such as "Cryin'" and "Crazy" which we would keep watching on MTV back in the day in order to see Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler.)

They actually started their set with "Love In An Elevator", which was introduced by a recording of Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35". In my original video I had included that introduction, which a few years later YouTube decided to mute (only the intro, mind you) because, well, it's a Bob Dylan song and Bob Dylan doesn't like his songs being on YouTube...

Steven Tyler even asked us to admire his "amazing body" which he has at his age and which he got "by eating Greek salad".

Aerosmith? Dream On!

Μας λένε όλοι, ότι οι μοναδικοί Έλληνες μουσικόφιλοι που πηγαίνουν φανατικά σε συναυλίες είναι οι χεβυμεταλλάδες. Επομένως όταν τους προσφέρεις ποιοτικό hard rock με την μορφή των Aerosmith, προφανώς θα το γεμίσουν το Καραϊσκάκη! Σωστά; Λάθος! Το γήπεδο παρέμεινε μισοάδειο. Ακούστηκαν πολλά για το τι το προκάλεσε αυτό, όπως ότι έγιναν λάθη από την πλευρά των διοργανωτών, ότι τα εισητήρια ήταν ακριβά (γιατί, στις άλλες συναυλίες ήταν φτηνότερα; Μην κοιτάτε που εγώ αγόρασα πιο ακριβό εισητήριο για να είμαι στην ΑΡΕΝΑ Α, δηλαδή μπροστά μπροστά, αυτό ήταν επιλογή μου. Μπορούσα και φτηνότερο). Όσο για τους διοργανωτές (11 Concerts - Ντέμης Νικολαϊδης), σίγουρα θα έκαναν κάποια λάθη, η αλήθεια όμως ειναι ότι θέλω να πετύχει ο Ντέμης. Όχι, ούτε ΑΕΚτζής είμαι, ούτε αγάπησα ξαφνικά μια εταιρία (μπρρρρρ... Φτου κακά!). Απλά θέλω να πετύχει και να μεγαλώσει για να μπορέσει κάποτε να ανταγωνισυεί τους Ντιντήδες (Didi Music) που το έχουνε δει μονοπώλιο. Το ποια είναι ακριβώς τα προβλήματά μου με τη ντιντη θα τα πούμε κάποια στιγμή αργότερα, σε άλλο post όταν θα αναφερθώ στο Sonisphere Festival.
Η δική μου γνώμη; Για να γεμίσουνε οι Έλληνες το γήπεδο, το συγκρότημα πρέπει να λέγεται Scorpions. Τόσο απλά.

Τέλος πάντων, ο Tyler και η παρέα του δεν μασήσανε με τα λίγα εισητήρια (σε αντίθεση με κάτι άλλους "star" που αν είναι λίγοι οι θεατές αρνούνται να εμφανιστούν για να μη τους χαλάσει το "image") και δώσανε μια από τις καλύτερες συναυλίες που έχουμε δει στην Ελλάδα. Μας είπαν και από τα παλιά και από τα "καινούργια". (Με το "καινούργια" εννοώ τα κομμάτια της δεκαετίας του '90 και τις μπαλλάντες τύπου Cryin' και Crazy που θαυμάζαμε τότε με τα βιντεοκλίπ με την Alicia Silverstone και τη Liv Tyler.

Μας ζήτησε δε ο Tyler να θαυμάσουμε το "υπέροχο σώμα" που έχει σ'αυτή την ηλικία που το απέκτησε "by eating Greek salad". Σ' ευχαριστούμε μεγάλε για την προτίμησή σου στη χωριάτικη!

Αυτά λοιπόν για τις συναυλίες του Ιουνίου, για τις συναυλίες του Ιουλίου (καθώς και κάποιες ειδικές περιπτώσεις που θέλουν περισσότερη έρευνα όπως Kosmos και Sonisphere) θα τα πούμε μόλις γυρίσω απ'την Αντίπαρο.
